Implementation of InterfaceClient with Backend Strategy Pattern.

Callback Timeout Incident Recording - COMPLETE

• Added _record_callback_timeout_incident() method to InterfaceClient
• Records diagnostic information when callback timeout occurs
• Includes circuit breaker state from backend in incident context

Circuit Breaker Delegation - COMPLETE

• Added circuit_breaker property and all_circuit_breakers_closed property to BackendOperationsProtocol
• Added reset_circuit_breakers() method to BackendOperationsProtocol
• Implemented in BaseBackend with default values (None/True/no-op)
• Implemented in CcuBackend (checks proxy, proxy_read, json_rpc)
• Implemented in HomegearBackend (checks proxy, proxy_read)
• Implemented in JsonCcuBackend (checks json_rpc)
• Updated InterfaceClient to delegate to backend (instead of hard-coded values)

2026-01-05 (CI Testing Infrastructure)¶

Full Test Suite Compatibility - COMPLETE

• Fixed create_client patching to intercept both legacy and InterfaceClient code paths
• Updated factory to patch module-level create_client function (not just ClientConfig.create_client)
• Added fetch_all_device_data script support in mock client session
• Fixed _is_initialized attribute access in ping-pong tests (compatible with __slots__)
• CI now runs full test suite (1640 tests) with both legacy and InterfaceClient
• All prek hooks passing

2026-01-05 (Phase 2 Complete)¶

• Created tests/test_interface_client_comparison.py (24 tests)
• Tests for set_value operations (basic, validation, routing)
• Tests for put_paramset operations (basic, validation)
• Tests for value validation errors (MIN/MAX bounds, operations mask)
• Tests for temporary value writing (polling vs non-polling)
• Tests for request coalescing (device and paramset descriptions)
• Tests for value conversion (float, bool, integer)

Quality Gates¶

Phase 1 ✅ COMPLETE¶

• pytest tests/ passes (1640 tests)
• prek run --all-files passes (18/18 hooks)
• No mypy errors
• Feature flag OFF = legacy behavior unchanged

Phase 2 ✅ COMPLETE¶

• All handler business logic migrated to InterfaceClient
• Comparison tests pass for all operations (24 tests)
• No behavioral differences between legacy and InterfaceClient
• Test coverage verified for InterfaceClient
• CI matrix tests both implementations (legacy + InterfaceClient)

Phase 3 ⬜ PENDING¶

• Beta testing with real CCU/Homegear
• 4 weeks error-free operation
• Zero regressions reported
• Performance within 5% of legacy

Key Decision: InterfaceClient is the unified client implementation. Backends contain transport logic ONLY and are selected via the Backend Strategy Pattern.
